Nissan is committing itself to Formula E until 2030

Nissan has renewed its commitment to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, and announced that its presence in the sport will continue from Season 13 (2026/27) all the way through to Season 16 (2029/2030). 

Ahead of the first ever Formula E race in Japan, Nissan Formula E Team managing director and team principal, Tommaso Volpe, signed the official registration document for car manufacturers in the FIA Formula E World Championship for the extension. The signing was witnessed by FIA Senior Circuit Sport Director, Marek Nawarecki and the Formula E Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Dodds.

The agreement solidified not just Nissan's commitment to its Ambition 2030 electrifications plans, but also its place as a manufacturer in GEN4 of the sport. 

Formula E's impending GEN4 cars will include cutting edge technology such as enhanced energy efficiency, increased power output and various safety innovations. GEN4 is seen as a step forward in electric vehicle racing technology on the whole.

Beyond that, the agreement marks Nissan as the first constructor confirmed to be taking part in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship until 2030. With Nissan's renewed and extended commitment, its involvement in Formula E will be stretched to a total of 12 years, by the time 2030 swings around.

Not only does this agreement mark Nissan's longest commitment to an FIA World Championship; it also marks milestone in Nissan's Ambition 2030. The brand believes that provides it with the perfect environment to develop its electric vehicle technology, while testing itself against tough competition.

Nissan currently operates in every country in which Formula E will be held. The brand states that it aims to use this opportunity to promote EV technology across the world.
